End of the Zune

End of Zune
Has the Zune lost its potential to become a big hit?
Now that more and more players with wireless features are coming out, has the Zune lost its edge? When the Zune came out, what differentiated it from other players? Wifi + its larger screen. Now we all know what wifi can do and what we hoped for the Zune's wifi capabilities. Downloading music on the fly, broadcasting what your listening to and wireless syncing. Well the Zune has been out for almost a year and there have been no significant updates to the features of the Zune. In that time various other players have come out with the capabilities that we hoped.

The Sansa mp3 player can download songs over wifi. The iPhone + iTouch can do the same plus the special deal with Starbucks. The only thing that I could hope that the Zune is doing is waiting until they have enough users to make a big impact. But are they waiting too long. If they release a certain feature too early, it could be perceived as a failure. Too late and others will already have the same feature which will reduce the impact. But at the moment they need to add new feature to get more users so that they can release the new features that require more users. Sounds complicated? read it a couple more times, it will make sense.

So is the Zune fading away, or preparing to blow the modern world away. They better do so soon, or they may just disappear.
